Benton Community Change Agents

Who are the change agents in your life?  Who are the change agents in your schools?

These "change agent" questions come to my mind when I start thinking about this thought "Find comfort in feeling uncomfortable."  This weekend one of our elementary principals, Ryan Junge asked his staff the following question, "What are some professional situations that are making you uncomfortable that you know you need to push through and overcome?"

As I reflect on the provocative and thoughtful responses his staff gave to his question, the theme I find in their replies is they appreciate the willingness of each other to be courageous learners -- whether that be in their personal or professional lives.

As a wife to one of the most amazing supporters I know, mother of three grown beautiful ladies, mother-in-law to two great sons, sister to ten fabulous siblings, sister-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, cousin, aunt, great-aunt, friend, school administrator, etc...

What I believe most is that relationships matter and courage is fear that has said it's prayers.  We've got to be willing to be change agents and seize opportunities in order to help make a difference to those whom we are blessed to have in our lives.

Peyton Manning said it best in this speech.

  • Risk more than others think is safe.
  • Care more than others think is wise.
  • Dream more than others think is practical.
  • Expect more than others think is possible.
Be change agents -- find comfort in the uncomfortable!
